The old Spider-Man 4 leak got one major detail right: the film’s eventual title is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. But its December 2024 plot synopsis and extra cast names are not confirmed by that title match. Sony’s current synopsis and FAQ describe a different setup, and Sony’s official cast list names eight performers.
What did the Spider-Man 4 leak claim?
A Production Weekly listing dated December 12, 2024, circulated online under the working title “SPIDER-MAN 4” and used “SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY” as an alternate title. A copy of the listing is available as a PDF mirrored on a third-party site; it is a historical production listing, not an official account of the finished film.
The listing claimed the story would follow Avengers: Doomsday: Peter would concentrate on college and step back from being Spider-Man, then return when a new threat endangered his friends. It also mentioned Andrew Garfield, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. in connection with possible casting. Those are claims in the listing, not confirmed plot or cast details.
What is the official title and plot?
Sony’s official film page calls the movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day and identifies it as the fourth film featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Its synopsis says Peter fights crime full-time in a world that no longer remembers him. As he watches his old friends move on, the pressure sparks a change he may not be able to control; that transformation may be the only thing capable of stopping a powerful, unseen villain.

Sony’s FAQ places the story four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, whose Doctor Strange spell made the world forget Peter Parker. Sony describes Peter as isolated and increasingly consumed by his Spider-Man life, while MJ and Ned are adults living in New York without remembering him. Its FAQ also describes a threat involving Jean Grey, Bruce Banner/Hulk and William “Bill” Metzger. Sony identifies Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

The title is the leak’s clear hit. The film’s official story description does not confirm the listing’s post-Doomsday setup or its college-focused plot. The comparison is between an early listing and Sony’s current public information; it does not establish what every scene in the completed film will contain.
Who is officially listed in the cast?
Sony’s current official cast list names:
- Tom Holland
- Zendaya
- Sadie Sink
- Jacob Batalon
- Jon Bernthal
- Tramell Tillman
- Michael Mando
- Mark Ruffalo
Sony lists Destin Daniel Cretton as director and Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers as writers. It credits the film as based on Marvel characters created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The public cast list is the sound basis for saying who is officially announced; the listing’s additional names should not be presented as confirmed.

What has Tom Holland said about the film?
In an Associated Press report published October 25, 2024, Holland described the idea for the fourth film as “crazy.” He said, “It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are going to really respond to it.” Those remarks predate the official title and release.
At CinemaCon in April 2026, Holland called the film “the most emotional Spider-Man movie yet” and “the most grown-up,” according to AP. AP also described studio footage of Peter at a housewarming party for MJ and Ned, where he introduces himself as “Maynard … just a neighbor from across the hall.” These are promotional remarks and AP’s account of footage—not confirmation of the old listing’s synopsis.
