The “Spider-Man 4” plot and cameo claims came from an unconfirmed rumor report, not an official Marvel or Sony announcement. BGR reported on December 23, 2024, that insider Alex Perez had floated possibilities including Knull, Venom, Doctor Doom, Mephisto, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and returns by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Sony later identified Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film as Spider-Man: Brand New Day; its official synopsis and release information do not confirm those rumored appearances.
What the 2024 Spider-Man 4 rumor report claimed
In a December 23, 2024 article, BGR’s Chris Smith attributed a set of possibilities to Alex Perez, described in the report as a Marvel insider. The claims reportedly came from a fan Q&A. They were presented as speculation, not as confirmed plot details or a studio announcement.
- Knull and Venom: The report raised the possibility of Knull as a major villain and a Spider-Man–Venom team-up.
- Other character connections or appearances: It mentioned Doctor Doom, Mephisto, Ghost Rider, and Daredevil.
- Earlier Spider-Men: It suggested Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could return in larger roles than they had in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
BGR’s own account left the possibilities open, reproducing Perez’s caveat: “It could be all of those or it could be none.” The report did not establish that any of these characters or actors had been approved, cast, or filmed for the movie. Read BGR’s December 23, 2024 report.
What Sony has officially said about the fourth film
Sony’s official title for Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sony’s official localized synopsis places Peter Parker four years after No Way Home: he is an adult living alone after choosing to remove himself from his loved ones’ memories. That is the officially stated premise; it is distinct from the character and cameo possibilities in BGR’s earlier rumor report. See Sony Pictures Japan’s official film page and synopsis.

Are the rumored cameos confirmed?
No. The BGR article is evidence that these possibilities were reported in 2024, not evidence that they became part of the finished film. Why Mephisto and One More Day came up
BGR connected its Mephisto speculation to the One More Day comic storyline. That reference can help explain the rumor, but a connection drawn by a rumor report is not evidence that Brand New Day adapts the comic. The official synopsis cited above does not make that claim.
