Benny Blanco’s advice in PEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive issue is practical: pay attention, listen to your date, and make gestures that suit the person rather than your budget. Blanco was featured in the issue; he was not its Sexiest Man Alive titleholder. The Associated Press reported that John Krasinski received the 2024 title.
What were Benny Blanco’s rules for being a gentleman?
In the PEOPLE interview, Blanco emphasized attentiveness and considerate gestures. Glamour’s Nov. 12, 2024 account of the interview reports his advice to listen during a date instead of making the conversation all about yourself. He also encouraged chivalry, including telling a partner she looks pretty. Read Glamour’s account of the interview.
Listen before planning the next thing
Listening is the foundation of the advice: notice what your date says and let it shape how you respond. The point is not to perform a generic idea of romance, but to show that you are engaged with the person in front of you.
Make gestures personal, not expensive
Blanco described both elaborate dates and inexpensive, personal gestures. As reported by Glamour, he said a date should not require spending an entire bank account. His examples included a botanical-garden date for Selena Gomez and Valentine’s Day food gifts. These are anecdotes from the interview, not a formula every couple should follow.

What did Blanco say about life with Selena Gomez?
The interview also included details about the couple’s routines and gifts. Glamour reports that Blanco and Gomez enjoy spending time together in the early morning, share clothing, and make gifts for one another. Those details illustrate the personal side of the interview; they are not relationship rules or proof of what makes a relationship succeed.
