Why Nicole Kidman’s divorce comments are resurfacing
The renewed attention brings together two separate moments: an older comment about Kidman’s divorce from Tom Cruise, and her recent reflections on divorce in a British Vogue interview. The Vogue conversation is the verifiable bridge between the stories; it addresses both marriages and the experience of facing public scrutiny. The Guardian’s account of the interview reports Kidman’s answer about whether her first divorce helped her weather the later one: “It’s all new. Every time!”
That answer is not the same as the older comment referenced in headlines about a Tom Cruise divorce comment resurfacing. E!’s search-result summary describes an old comment resurfacing, but the underlying article and an independently verifiable transcript of the original clip are not available here. It would therefore be misleading to attribute a specific exact quote to that older clip.
Kidman and Cruise: married in 1990, divorced in 2001
Kidman and Tom Cruise married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. In the 2026 interview, she recalled being young and in love, and said she had brushed aside warnings that being Cruise’s wife might harm her career. “We just fell madly in love and it was that simple,” she said, as quoted by The Guardian.

Kidman and Urban: a later marriage and divorce
Kidman and country musician Keith Urban married in 2006. She filed for divorce in September 2025, citing marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences, according to The Guardian. On January 6, 2026, a Nashville judge finalized the divorce and accepted the couple’s agreements on asset division and child custody, the Associated Press reported. The couple had been married for 19 years.
What Kidman said about facing divorce again
Asked whether her experience with Cruise made the scrutiny around the Urban divorce easier to endure, Kidman did not describe the second divorce as familiar or easier. Her reported answer—“It’s all new. Every time!”—is brief, but directly addresses that comparison.

She also described the period as exposing and uncertain. “There was a point where I was very fearful and deeply vulnerable, which is exposing,” she said. Of expectations changing, she added: “You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like and then it’s … not.” Both excerpts are reproduced by The Guardian from the British Vogue interview.

The Cruise divorce belongs to 2001; the Urban divorce was finalized in 2026. The old clip’s exact wording remains unverified, while Kidman’s response in the 2026 Vogue interview is reported clearly. Keeping those moments separate avoids turning a resurfaced headline into a quote she cannot be reliably shown to have said.
