The account is Logan’s retrospective recollection, reported by Rachel Fenner for PerthNow on August 2, 2023—not a clinical assessment or proof that online criticism alone caused a particular mental-health outcome.
What Logan Paul said about his brother
PerthNow reported Logan saying: “I mean, both my dad and I felt worried for my brother’s life,” and “There was a point where we were both legitimately concerned that Jake was going to kill himself.” He also described Jake as “pretty emotionally unpredictable, and volatile.” These are Logan’s descriptions of what he and their father feared at the time, as recounted in the documentary.
How Jake described the hostility
In the same report, Jake described the public response as emotionally painful: “It’s not easy to be hated by the whole entire world and it creates a very dark mental place.” He also said, “It was easy to rip me apart,” and “It became a thing to hate Jake Paul.” The remarks convey Jake’s account of how he experienced the attention; they do not establish a diagnosis or a medical cause.
What the documentary covers
Netflix describes UNTOLD: Jake Paul the Problem Child as a 2023 documentary about Jake’s early YouTube fame, controversies, tensions with Logan, and move into professional boxing. Netflix lists its runtime as 1 hour 12 minutes. Its timeline says the brothers started a YouTube channel in 2013, moved to Los Angeles in 2014, and were competing for online attention by 2017.

Netflix’s chronology also notes Logan’s backlash in early 2018 after he posted footage of a suicide victim in Aokigahara. That episode is part of the documentary’s broader context, not evidence that it caused Jake’s distress. The film and trailer frame boxing as a source of renewed purpose for Jake; in the trailer, Logan says, “He needed purpose.” This is documentary framing, not a claim that boxing treats mental illness.
