LeAnn Rimes’s 2018 comment about possibly having a child with Eddie Cibrian was not a firm plan: she said she felt “baby fever” occasionally, but that it “hasn’t stuck.” In a 2026 interview, she said she did not want children of her own and was satisfied as a stepmother. Those remarks reflect what she said at different times, not a disclosed medical or relationship explanation.
What did LeAnn Rimes say in 2018?
In an interview at Hallmark Channel’s Summer TCA event in Beverly Hills, Entertainment Tonight asked Rimes whether she had baby fever. ET reported that she first said no, then clarified that the feeling came every once in a while but had not lasted. She left open the possibility of a child “Maybe one day,” while saying she was content with her family life at the time.

Rimes described her stepfamily this way: “I love my stepkids and I get plenty on my plate with them. So, I’m cool at the moment.” The interview was published on July 27, 2018. Read Entertainment Tonight’s account of the interview.
What did she say later?
In a Today show segment reported by Us Weekly on May 1, 2026, Rimes said she was satisfied as a stepmother and did not want children of her own. She said, “I’m kind of satisfied with what we have going on.” She also objected to people assuming that not having children meant she could not have them: “I just felt so strange that there had to be a reason other than I don’t want kids.”

That statement gives the older “Maybe one day” comment important context: the 2018 remark described an occasional feeling and an open possibility, while the 2026 report conveyed her stated preference at that later time. The Us Weekly report does not provide medical details. Read Us Weekly’s report on the 2026 segment.
How her public comments changed over time
| Date | What Rimes said | What the comment establishes |
|---|---|---|
| June 6, 2013 | She said having a child of her own might eventually happen. | An earlier possibility, not a pregnancy announcement. E! report. |
| July 27, 2018 | She said baby fever came occasionally, had not stuck, and a child might happen “Maybe one day.” | A passing feeling and an open possibility, alongside contentment with her stepchildren. Entertainment Tonight report. |
| May 1, 2026 | She said she did not want children of her own and was satisfied as a stepmother. | A later stated preference; the report does not establish a medical or other private cause. Us Weekly report. |
Does LeAnn Rimes have children of her own?
The reports describe Rimes as stepmother to Cibrian’s sons, Mason and Jake, and distinguish that role from having children of her own. In 2018, she said she loved her stepchildren and was content with them. The 2026 report says she did not want children of her own; it also says she pushed back against assumptions about infertility. Neither her comments nor the coverage establish a medical explanation.

What the comments do—and do not—tell us
- Rimes’s 2013 and 2018 comments left open the possibility of having a child; the 2018 comment specifically described an occasional feeling rather than a firm intention.
- Her 2026 statement expressed a different, later preference. It does not show that her earlier remarks were insincere.
- The reports do not establish why her view differed over time, or what Cibrian wanted. They should not be used to infer fertility, health, or relationship circumstances.
