Lionel Messi’s Fortnite collaboration is real, but it is not a new arrival: Epic Games announced it in December 2024. Epic said Messi appeared in the game on December 13, with two Messi-inspired outfits and related cosmetics. That launch announcement does not establish whether any of them are available in the Item Shop today.

Epic Games France announced the collaboration on December 13, 2024, and gave a December 14 launch time of 1 a.m. local time. The different publication dates and stated local launch timing reflect regional announcements; neither should be treated as a universal time for every player: Epic Games France’s announcement.
What was included in the Messi collaboration?
Two outfits
The French announcement names the Lionel Messi outfit and the Streetwear Spark Messi outfit. It describes variants associated with The Mane event emote for the Lionel Messi outfit, while the Streetwear Spark Messi outfit has reactive elements during sprints. These are details of the original release, not evidence of current shop availability.

Emotes and other cosmetics
Epic’s announcement also included two emotes and other in-game cosmetics. Messi said in Epic’s Japan announcement: “It’s amazing to see myself represented in Fortnite. Growing up, I never imagined something like this would be possible. Soccer has always been about joy and connection, and now fans can experience that through my own outfits in a way that goes beyond the field. I hope they have fun!”
Can you still get the Messi Fortnite skin?
The announcements confirm the original collaboration, but they do not say whether the outfits are in the Item Shop on October 8, 2026. Check the in-game Item Shop or a current official shop listing before assuming you can buy them; the historical launch announcement is not a live availability listing. Epic’s Fortnite news index is at fortnite.com/news, but the sources cited here do not verify current Messi stock.

Would a Fortnite gift card unlock Messi’s outfit?
No. A gift card can fund eligible Fortnite purchases, but it cannot make a particular licensed outfit available when that outfit is not listed for sale. Epic says V-Bucks cards are being replaced as Fortnite gift cards roll out, with timing and availability varying by region. Card type, territory, account, and platform conditions can affect use; check Epic’s current guidance before buying or redeeming one: Epic’s gift card and V-Bucks card information.
