LE SSERAFIM is a five-member K-pop group whose story brings together bold performance, songs about vulnerability and a close relationship with its fans, known as FEARNOT. The group’s 2024 Coachella appearance became a milestone in that story; its subsequent releases continued to reshape its sound and themes.
Who are LE SSERAFIM?
LE SSERAFIM consists of Sakura, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae. The group is under SOURCE MUSIC, a HYBE label. Its official profile explains that the name is an anagram of “IM FEARLESS.” SOURCE MUSIC’s official profile provides the group’s lineup and name meaning.
GRAMMY.com describes the quintet as the first girl group launched by Source Music under HYBE. LE SSERAFIM debuted in May 2022 with the EP Fearless. Rather than treating fearlessness as invulnerability, the members’ later descriptions of their music make room for insecurity and change.
How did LE SSERAFIM’s music evolve?
| Release | Format and timing | What it adds to the story |
|---|---|---|
| Fearless | EP; May 2022 | The group’s debut release, according to GRAMMY.com. GRAMMY.com’s group profile |
| Unforgiven | Studio album; 2023 | The title track features Nile Rodgers and samples Ennio Morricone’s theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Rodgers said he chose the collaboration because he loved the song when he heard it. GRAMMY.com |
| Easy | Mini album; released February 19, 2024 | The members described a turn toward insecurity and vulnerability, with a narrative that ends in a confession to fans. Teen Vogue’s interview about Easy |
| Crazy | Mini album; released in 2024 | Vogue later situated it between Easy and Hot in the group’s three-part sequence. Vogue’s interview about Hot |
| Hot | Mini album; March 2025 | Vogue called it the fifth mini album and the final chapter after Easy and Crazy. Yunjin discussed writing “Ash” around the beauty she saw in pain and rebirth. Vogue |
The group’s collaborations also show how its sound draws on music beyond K-pop. On “Unforgiven,” Nile Rodgers joined a title track built around a sample of Morricone’s film theme. Yunjin described cross-border collaboration as a natural fit for music: “Music is a universal language, and I think it’s very good and very honorable to have Western and Eastern artists collaborating from wherever they are.” GRAMMY.com
