Neal Schon later clarified the timing, and Cain’s management said he remained an active member. Although Journey’s Final Frontier Tour was described as entering its final leg in 2026, available reporting does not establish Cain’s exact last performance or confirm that he has already left.
Is Jonathan Cain leaving Journey now?
No. In October 2025, guitarist Neal Schon’s initial social post prompted reports that Cain had said goodbye to Journey. Schon then clarified that Cain would continue playing with the band through 2026 and 2027. Cain’s management likewise said he remained an active member and was dedicated to touring with Journey over the next couple of years. Rolling Stone reported both the clarification and management’s statement.
Schon’s clarification, quoted in the report, was: “Jon is playing. He’s saying at the end of 26-27, he will move on.” That describes an expected future departure, not an immediate resignation or a confirmed final-show date.
When is Cain expected to leave?
The reported plan pointed to the end of the 2026–2027 touring period. The available statements do not name a particular date or concert as Cain’s last with Journey, so a precise final appearance cannot be confirmed from them.

Will Cain be on Journey’s farewell tour?
A November 2025 announcement for Journey’s Final Frontier Tour included Cain in the lineup. Cain described the tour as “one last chance” to share the band’s music with fans, while Schon called it a thank-you to the audience. The announcement establishes Cain’s place in the announced lineup at that time; it does not specify his last performance. PeoplesBank Arena’s tour announcement identifies Cain among the members.
The tour’s farewell framing and Cain’s reported plan to leave are related, but they are not interchangeable: the tour announcement does not itself establish when Cain will depart.

What did Journey’s 2026 final tour leg establish?
In August 2026, the Associated Press reported that Journey’s Final Frontier Tour was entering its final leg, scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in September and end in San Francisco in November. The AP said the San Francisco show would cap more than 100 concerts that year. This is context about the tour’s schedule, not confirmation that Cain’s departure had taken effect or that he would perform at either endpoint. The Associated Press report does not establish Cain’s exact last show.
