They welcomed the couple on King Charles III’s behalf in the Walled Rose Garden and accompanied them to meet the King and Queen Camilla; the monarchs then led the formal welcome and the day’s ceremonies.
Where and when did the Waleses welcome the Trumps?
The welcome took place at Windsor Castle on 17 September 2025. The Court Circular records that the Prince and Princess of Wales greeted the President and First Lady in the Walled Rose Garden on the King’s behalf, then walked with them to Victoria House, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla met the visitors. The Royal Family’s Court Circular and its account of the state visit document the sequence.
What happened during the formal welcome?
The King and Queen conducted the formal welcome outside Windsor Castle. A Royal Salute was fired from the castle’s East Lawn and at the Tower of London. The royal party then traveled through the Windsor estate in a carriage procession, accompanied by a Sovereign’s Escort from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Armed Forces members and three military bands lined the route.
A Guard of Honour with three State Colours
The Guard of Honour featured the State Colours of the Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards and Scots Guards. The Royal Family described it as the first occasion on which three State Colours had appeared together; conventionally, one colour is on parade.
