What happened to Kate Quigley?
Contemporaneous reporting placed the incident at Quigley’s home in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, in September 2021. Comedians Fuquan Johnson and Enrico Colangeli and Quigley’s friend Natalie Williamson died after a suspected overdose involving cocaine reportedly cut with fentanyl. The Independent and Complex described the group as unaware of the fentanyl. These are reported details of the incident; the coverage cited here does not establish primary toxicology, coroner, or law-enforcement findings.
What Quigley recalled about the poisoning
Quigley said she began feeling nauseous and told her friends, “Something’s not right about this. I don’t feel well,” as quoted by Complex. She later lost consciousness. When she woke in darkness later that day, she was confused and could not feel her legs. The Independent quoted her: “I couldn’t feel my legs,” she said. “I went to stand, and that’s when I really realised… and I started to get scared.” The outlet also reported that she said she suffered total kidney failure.
Quigley described not initially realizing that a friend had died, saying, “It never crossed my mind he was dead,” according to The Independent. These short excerpts were published by journalists reporting on the interview; they are not independently verified against a full episode transcript.

Why Quigley believed she survived
Quigley said she believed she survived because she had taken less than the others. That was her own explanation, not a medically established cause of her survival. The reports cited here do not provide a clinical account that confirms why she lived or establishes the precise amount or composition of what each person took.
About the Red Table Talk episode
The episode, “Fentanyl: An Urgent Warning For All,” featured Quigley discussing the poisoning and the deaths of her friends. Its release is best described as May 2022: Complex previewed it on May 17 as arriving the following Wednesday, while The Independent covered it on May 19; Apple Podcasts lists May 26, 2022. Fentanyl awareness beyond this account
Quigley’s interview is a personal account, not a complete medical or forensic record of the incident. Separately, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration warns that fentanyl is hidden in counterfeit pills and says that “Just 2 milligrams—smaller than a grain of salt—can kill.” The DEA awareness page does not show a publication date, and its general warning should not be treated as evidence about the specific substances or doses involved in Quigley’s case.
