What jewelry does Mariah Carey wear?
Carey has described herself as a collector who values sentimental and vintage jewelry. In a 2022 Vogue interview, she explained that she may keep wearing a signature piece instead of seeking a different look: “Some people need a new look every day, but if something is a signature piece that I always wear, then I just wear it—it’s sentimentality of it all for me.”
That perspective helps explain why her jewelry story is about more than conspicuous diamonds. Individual pieces can mark relationships, memories, or an era in her career. She has also spoken about passing jewelry to her daughter. Public reporting, however, does not provide a complete list of her personal pieces.

What is Mariah Carey’s butterfly jewelry collection?
Carey’s butterfly designs grew from a collaboration with Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele. The motif has a personal connection to Carey’s 1997 album Butterfly and to the freedom and transformation she associates with the insect. In a 2022 Tatler Asia interview, Carey said: “There are little butterfly touches on everything I do now because [the winged creature is] a symbol of freedom and empowerment.”
Carey recalled to Vogue that Scheufele began sketching a butterfly necklace during an early phone conversation. She also singled out the asymmetrical earrings: each represents one wing, so the pair forms a design that is deliberately different from side to side.

How the two Chopard collections differ
The collaboration produced two distinct lines. The first is high jewelry, built around large, attention-getting pieces; Happy Butterfly x Mariah Carey is a more wearable fine-jewelry collection. Both use the butterfly, but their scale, materials, and design treatments are not interchangeable.

Mariah Carey’s standout jewelry appearances
Carey’s public appearances provide striking examples of jewelry she has worn, but an appearance is not proof that a piece belongs to her personal collection. Retrospective descriptions also vary in how firmly their figures are established, so carat weights and valuations should be read as source-reported details, not as independent appraisals.
- 2019 amfAR Cannes Gala: Natural Diamonds reports that Carey wore a 50-carat white-gold necklace from Chopard’s Garden of Kalahari collection. A retrospective by The Diamond Collective reports a 25-carat pear-shaped diamond earring, a 26-carat heart-shaped diamond earring, and a 20-carat cushion-cut ring for the look.
- Engagement ring: The Diamond Collective reports that Wilfredo Rosado designed Carey’s 35-carat ring and gives an estimated value of $10 million. The same retrospective says it was later reportedly sold for a rumored $2.1 million; neither the estimate nor the reported resale should be treated as a verified transaction record.
- 2025 MTV Video Music Awards: The Diamond Collective reports that Carey wore a necklace weighing 204.38 carats and estimates its value at $10 million. That price is a secondary publication’s estimate, not an independently confirmed appraisal.
These examples show the scale of some of Carey’s best-known jewelry moments. They do not establish the value of her whole collection.

Does Mariah Carey’s jewelry collection have a known total value?
No reliable total valuation for Carey’s entire personal jewelry collection is established in the cited reporting. The figures attached to individual appearances or pieces are not a complete inventory, and some are estimates or rumors. They should not be combined into a supposed collection total.
A separate figure sometimes associated with Carey is about music rather than jewelry: Tatler Asia reported in 2022 that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had sold 10 million copies in the United States as it reached diamond certification. That is Tatler’s U.S.-specific sales figure at that time, not a current worldwide total or a measure of her jewelry.
