Ilma Beach House has the Indian Ocean setting many restaurants would envy, but a striking view is only part of the reason to go. In a PerthNow review published on 3 March 2025, Jade Jurewicz praised the food and service alongside the scenery, awarded the restaurant 18/20, and singled out the bathrooms as a drawback. Her assessment reflects one visit, not a current facilities audit.
What is Ilma Beach House like?
Ilma Beach House sits at 15 Farm Break Lane, Naturaliste WA 6281, in the Bunker Bay area. Tourism Western Australia describes it as a beachside restaurant on Bunker Bay that took over the former Bunkers Beach House. The restaurant’s food identity pairs fresh local seafood with Mediterranean influence and seasonal produce. Is Ilma Beach House worth visiting?
Jurewicz’s March 2025 review argues that Ilma is more than a pretty place. She praised both the meal and the service, writing, “Each dish we ordered was excellent,” and gave the restaurant 18/20. Her examples give a sense of the meal she experienced. She found the charred octopus tender, spicy and flavourful, and enjoyed the prawn cocktail’s salad even without the prawns. She also liked the rich braised lamb and the chicken Maryland, while joking about the latter’s price alongside its white beans. The prices below are those reported for her 2025 visit, not confirmed current menu prices.

What is the main drawback?

When is Ilma open, and does it serve dinner?
Ilma’s contact page currently lists restaurant hours as Thursday to Monday, 9am–4pm, with the kitchen closing at 3pm; it lists Tuesday and Wednesday as closed. The venue’s FAQ says it does not currently serve ordinary dinner, though seasonal events may be exceptions. Hours and service can change, so check the official contact page before setting out. The kiosk’s listed opening days conflict across the venue’s official pages: some say Thursday to Monday from 8am, while the contact page and FAQ say Friday to Sunday from 8am. If you are planning around Kofe Kabana, confirm its hours directly with the venue rather than relying on either schedule. How to book and what policies should you know?
The venue recommends booking, particularly during peak season. Its FAQ says reservations can be made up to 12 weeks ahead. A $25-per-person pre-authorisation applies to no-shows or cancellations made within 24 hours. The FAQ also says dogs are not permitted in the restaurant. Confirm the current terms when booking. Is Ilma best for a beach lunch or a quick stop?
Choose the restaurant for a sit-down breakfast or lunch with a view, keeping in mind that the kitchen closes at 3pm and ordinary dinner service is not currently offered. For something more casual, Kofe Kabana serves takeaway drinks, hot chips and artisanal ice cream. Check the kiosk schedule with Ilma because its official pages do not agree on the opening days.
