Its published route is to approach through an appropriate licensed agent, producer, attorney, manager, or industry executive who already has a relationship with Netflix. Netflix does not provide referrals to those intermediaries.
How do you get a project in front of Netflix?
Start by identifying an appropriate industry intermediary with an existing Netflix relationship. Netflix says it receives pitches through creative executives and buyers, agencies, and the wider creative community. It also acquires finished works at festivals and other established venues, and develops some ideas internally with hired creatives. These are sourcing channels, not guarantees that a particular contact or festival appearance will lead to consideration.
Netflix’s policy applies to materials such as manuscripts, treatments, scripts, drawings, and other project materials unless Netflix specifically requests them. Sending a deck or script to a general contact address does not satisfy the stated route. The policy and contacts may change, so check Netflix’s Help Center guidance before taking action.
What routes are available?
| Route | Who can use it | How it works | Status and scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| General industry route | Creators working with an appropriate licensed agent, producer, attorney, manager, or industry executive who already has a Netflix relationship | The intermediary brings the project to Netflix; Netflix does not provide referrals. | Netflix’s general stated policy. It does not publish a universal submission package or open intake channel. |
| The Next Brilliant Career (Australia, 2026) | Eligible Australian writers identifying as women or non-binary who met the program’s credit, residency, age, and student-status requirements | Applications went through the relevant state or territory screen agency. Applicants supplied a biography, working title, logline, intended audience, genre, cultural-relevance and personal-connection explanation, one-page synopsis, and up to five pages of writing. | Applications ran August 4–18, 2026; selected writers were invited to pitch in Sydney on October 6, 2026. The window and pitch date had passed by October 8, 2026. This was a limited program, not a general submission route. |
Netflix announced the Australian initiative with the Australian Writers’ Guild and state and territory screen agencies. Its published criteria included distinct voice, a compelling premise, potential for a series or feature, genre understanding, an authentically Australian sensibility, audience clarity, market awareness, and contribution to diversity. The announcement said applicants retained ownership of their submitted work and that participation did not guarantee development, funding, or ongoing support. Those details applied to that program; check current terms for any future initiative. Netflix’s announcement listed eight selected participants.

What should your pitch package include?
Netflix does not publish a standard pitch deck, logline format, script length, or package checklist for unsolicited approaches; it says those materials are not accepted unless specifically requested. If a representative or intermediary requests material, follow the request and any applicable agreement rather than treating the Australia program’s application package as a universal template.
For general screen-industry preparation, the Writers Guild of America describes its Project Page as a way to collect project information such as a logline, development history, attached talent, and rights status. That is general context, not a Netflix requirement: WGA Screenwriters Handbook: Project Page.
