He continues to build, and his work now extends beyond motorcycles and cars to firearms and knives. The profile says Jesse James Firearms Unlimited, Jesse James Culinary and West Coast Choppers share the same property.
What Jesse James is doing now
Autostrada Magazine’s March 3, 2026 profile describes James as continuing hands-on work at his Texas shop. His current interests span vehicle building as well as firearms and knives. The article also reports that he still had projects backed up after moving to Texas, and recalls his earlier work for Boyd Coddington and mentorship by hot rodders John Buttera and Coddington. Read the profile.
James described his direction this way: “I think my Mission Statement is a little open ended,” adding, “I’m just like a leaf in the stream.” Autostrada Magazine attributes the remarks to him in the same March 2026 profile.
What is happening with West Coast Choppers?
West Coast Choppers remains a public-facing brand: its official store lists branded clothing, including T-shirts and riding gear. That confirms an active merchandise storefront, but it does not establish how many custom motorcycles the company currently builds or the scale of its workshop operation. How his TV history fits the update
James became widely known through television as well as his motorcycle and car work. Discovery’s series description for Jesse James: Outlaw Garage follows him and a crew transforming classic cars at Austin Speed Shop in Austin. That description documents the show’s setting, not James’s current location or any present affiliation with the shop.
On February 24, 2020, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Monster Garage would return, describing James then as an Austin resident and West Coast Choppers founder. The announcement also noted his metalworking apprenticeship with Uri Hofi in Israel. It is a record of the 2020 announcement, not confirmation of current production, new episodes or where the show can be watched today. Read Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement.
