Eddie Cahill played Tag Jones, Rachel Green’s assistant and boyfriend, on Friends. After the role, he went on to play Detective Don Flack on CSI: NY and Sam Verdreaux on Under the Dome. Cahill later said that joining the already-famous sitcom left him nervous and overwhelmed, though he felt it may have helped his career.
Who was Tag on Friends?
Tag Jones was Rachel Green’s assistant and romantic interest in the show’s seventh season. Apple TV’s episode guide lists Cahill as Tag in episodes including “The One With Rachel’s Assistant,” “The One With the Engagement Picture” and “The One With All the Candy.” Apple TV’s biography and episode listings document the role.
How did Cahill describe joining the show?
In an interview published August 8, 2005, Cahill recalled that joining Friends was daunting because the series was already so well known. “Being on Friends was like being in The Matrix because everybody knows the show,” he told CSI Files. He added that the cast treated him well, but the experience was “overwhelming, in the best of ways.”
Asked whether Friends led to other roles, Cahill said, “I think it helped,” while clarifying that he did not think it specifically led to one particular job. His comments describe a possible career benefit, not a direct link between the sitcom and a later casting decision.
What did Eddie Cahill do after Friends?
CSI: NY
Cahill played Detective Don Flack on CSI: NY. TV Guide reported his casting in 2004, and Apple TV lists the series run associated with his role as 2004–2013. TV Guide’s casting report and Apple TV’s filmography document the credit.
Under the Dome
In 2014, Cahill joined season two of Under the Dome as a series regular, playing Sam Verdreaux. The network’s 2014 casting announcement confirms the role. In a contemporaneous interview, Cahill described the part as an opportunity to do more character-driven work, according to CSI Files.

What these credits do—and don’t—tell us
These are notable entries in Cahill’s career after Friends, not a complete filmography or evidence of his most recent work. They show his move from Tag’s sitcom storyline to major television roles, but the available sources do not establish that Friends directly secured those jobs or that he later left acting.
