What this list includes—and what it does not
This chronology uses the Walt Disney Animation Studios feature catalog as its boundary. “Disney animated movies” can also refer to Pixar films, Disneytoon titles, acquired labels, or animated films distributed by Disney. Those are broader categories than this studio filmography; D23’s List of Disney Films illustrates the wider company scope.
The catalog includes films such as Saludos Amigos and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad; this list follows the studio’s own catalog rather than applying a separate rule for package films, hybrid films, or other edge cases. For precise ordering on a particular day, a year-only list is not enough: exact original U.S. theatrical dates would need to be checked consistently film by film.

Upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios movie
As of October 8, 2026, Hexed is upcoming, not a released entry. Disney lists its release date as November 25, 2026, and described it as the studio’s 65th animated feature in its June 26, 2026 Annecy announcement. That ordinal is Disney’s designation for the planned film, not a count of releases completed by October 8.
