Kung Fu Panda 2 made the most money worldwide, with a reported theatrical gross of $664,837,547. Here are the four feature films ranked by worldwide box office, using The Numbers’ franchise table as accessed on October 8, 2026. This is a commercial ranking—not a judgment of quality or a measure of which movie audiences prefer today.
Kung Fu Panda movies ranked by worldwide box office
The figures below are nominal reported dollars, not inflation-adjusted totals. Domestic gross and opening weekend are included for context; production budgets are not measures of profit.

What the box-office ranking shows
- Kung Fu Panda 2 leads worldwide, while the 2008 original leads on both domestic gross and domestic opening weekend.
- Kung Fu Panda 4 finished ahead of Kung Fu Panda 3 worldwide in The Numbers’ table.
- Worldwide totals and domestic totals can tell different stories: the original’s domestic lead did not make it the worldwide leader.
- The Numbers’ franchise page also lists the short Secrets of the Furious Five with a zero gross. It is not a theatrical feature, so it is excluded from this four-film ranking.
Why production budget is not a profit ranking
The Numbers reports production budgets for the four films, but comparing gross to budget does not establish how much a film earned. The calculation leaves out distribution and marketing costs, exhibitors’ shares of ticket sales, and other expenses. The figures support a ranking by reported box-office gross, not a verdict on profitability.
How the domestic figures can differ by source
This ranking uses The Numbers consistently for all worldwide totals. Box Office Mojo agrees with The Numbers’ domestic lifetime grosses for the 2008, 2011, and 2016 films, but lists Kung Fu Panda 4 at $193,590,620 domestic, compared with The Numbers’ $193,978,190. Mixing databases could make a table less consistent, so the domestic figures here follow The Numbers too.

The franchise beyond these four totals
DreamWorks Animation’s official Kung Fu Panda 4 page describes the 2008 original as the studio’s highest-grossing original animated film and says the franchise has earned more than $1.8 billion at the global box office. That is the studio’s franchise-level statement; it is distinct from the individual film totals in The Numbers’ table.
