When does the Disney+ price increase take effect?
Disney’s U.S. Help Center says subscribers who signed up before August 20, 2026, will see the price change in a billing cycle on or after October 21, 2026. Updated pricing applies to new subscriptions from August 20. Because the change is tied to a billing cycle, October 21 is not necessarily the date every existing subscriber is charged the new amount. How much more will I pay for Disney+ and Hulu?
The exact old and new monthly rates for each affected plan are not established here. CBS News reported on September 23, 2026, that the increase affects Disney+, Hulu, and some bundles containing ESPN Select, but a report about the increase is not a substitute for matching the official price table to your particular plan. Before comparing prices, identify the plan you actually have. Check whether it is standalone or part of a bundle, whether it includes ads, and the monthly amount currently shown in your account. Then compare that with the current U.S. plan listing or the notice sent to you. Do not assume that a price for an ad-supported tier applies to an ad-free plan, or that a bundle’s change matches the standalone service increase.

What happened to ESPN+ in the current plan names?
Older price references use the name ESPN+. Disney’s 2025 announcement introduced ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited as names for its direct-to-consumer ESPN plans, and described ESPN Select as the tier existing ESPN+ subscribers would receive. Current reporting on the 2026 changes refers to bundles that include ESPN Select. Why older October price figures are not a guide to 2026
Disney’s 2023 U.S. price schedule took effect October 12, 2023, but that historical change does not establish that every plan has increased every October since. The 2023 document listed Disney+ Premium at $13.99 per month, Hulu Basic with ads at $7.99 per month, ESPN+ at $10.99 per month, and the Trio Basic bundle at $14.99 per month. How to check which charge will change
- Open your Disney+ or Hulu account and find the subscription or billing details for the service through which you are billed.
- Note the plan name, whether it includes ads, whether it is standalone or bundled, and the next renewal date.
- Compare the amount shown in your account or subscriber notice with Disney’s current U.S. plan listing. Make sure the plan names and bundle components match.
- If you subscribed on or after August 20, 2026, the updated pricing already applied when you joined; if you subscribed earlier, check the first billing cycle on or after October 21.
The cited plan page is explicitly for the United States. Its timing and prices should not be applied to subscriptions billed in other countries.
