They danced to Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things (Acoustic),” marking Erbert’s return to the ballroom after emergency brain surgery in December 2023.
What Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert performed on DWTS
The couple’s routine aired on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, during the show’s Dedication Night episode. ABC and Disney’s announcement named their song as Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things (Acoustic).” The episode simulcast live on ABC and Disney+ and was scheduled to become available on Hulu the following day, according to the official episode announcement.
The performance was Erbert’s return to the DWTS dance floor following her December 2023 emergency craniectomy and cranioplasty, as ABC News reported the next day.
What happened during Erbert’s 2023 health emergency
Hough said Erbert became disoriented while the couple was on their Symphony of Dance tour in Washington, D.C. In his account, doctors diagnosed her with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel, and she required emergency craniectomy. ABC News later reported that she underwent cranioplasty in December. These details reflect Hough’s public account and contemporaneous reporting, not an independent medical assessment.
