Netflix Tudum’s December 15, 2023 teen-movie watchlist featured seven films spanning fantasy, comedy and romance. It was an editorial selection, not a ranked list or a claim that these were objectively the “best” films. Netflix catalogs vary by region and change over time, so check your local Netflix catalog before choosing a title.
Netflix’s 2023 teen-movie recommendations at a glance
The comparison below uses Netflix Tudum’s listed genres, ratings and runtimes to help you choose by mood and available time. Ratings are Netflix’s classifications; they are not a single universal measure of whether a film is suitable for every teen or family.

Netflix Tudum lists these details in its teen-movie guide. The titles were recommended in 2023, but the list does not mean that every film was released that year.
Which film should you watch?
For dance and a team story: Work It
Choose Work It for a comedy built around forming a dance team and working toward a college-application goal. At 1h 33m, it is the shortest film on this list.

For fantasy: The School for Good and Evil
The School for Good and Evil offers a fairy-tale setting and a friendship at the center of its story. Its 2h 29m runtime makes it the longest option here. Netflix identifies it as based on a 2013 novel.
For romance and coming of age
20th Century Girl centers on a friendship and a crush in 1999, while The Half of It follows a student drawn into a classmate’s romantic pursuit. Tall Girl combines romance with insecurity and bullying. These options differ in setting and premise, so the descriptions may be more useful than treating them as interchangeable romance picks.

#REALITYHIGH takes on popularity, bullying, romance and social-media attention. Netflix rates it TV-14.

Was You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah a 2023 teen movie?
Yes. Netflix Tudum’s 2023 release guide listed You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah as a new Netflix movie with an August 25, 2023 release date. Its premise focuses on friendship and growing pains. It is a useful addition if you mean teen films released in 2023, rather than films Netflix recommended during 2023. Netflix’s 2023 movie guide supports the release-date distinction.
Are these movies still on Netflix?
The 2023 recommendation page records what Netflix Tudum highlighted at that time; it does not establish current availability. Netflix notes that the number of recommendations may vary by region. Search your local Netflix catalog before planning a watch, since availability can change.

Why this is a watchlist, not a ranking
Netflix Tudum’s December 15, 2023 page introduced its selection with the line, “Follow the ups and downs of young love, the trials of self-discovery, and the power of friendships that withstand any challenge.” Its seven titles cover several kinds of teen stories, but the page does not publish a quantitative ranking, audience survey or viewership figures that would justify placing one film above another.
