Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds attended SNL50: The Anniversary Special together in New York on February 16, 2025. Contemporary coverage described it as their first joint red-carpet appearance since the dispute involving Justin Baldoni began. When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler asked Reynolds, “How’s it going?”, he replied, “Great. Why, what have you heard?”—a brief joke that drew on the headlines surrounding the couple.
What happened at the SNL50 event?
Lively and Reynolds appeared together at the anniversary special, held in New York on February 16, 2025. Reports called it their first joint red-carpet appearance since the public dispute tied to It Ends With Us began.
During the special, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler asked Reynolds how he was doing. His response—“Great. Why, what have you heard?”—was widely framed as a joke about the surrounding headlines. The exchange was a moment at the event, not a comment establishing anything about the dispute’s underlying claims.
What was the Justin Baldoni dispute about?
The dispute grew out of the production and promotion of the 2024 film It Ends With Us, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint alleging misconduct during production and retaliation. Baldoni denied wrongdoing and pursued counterclaims. Those are competing allegations and denials, not findings established by the red-carpet appearance.

What happened to the legal claims afterward?
In May 2026, Lively and Baldoni settled the remaining claims, averting the scheduled trial. A settlement resolves claims between parties; it is not a judicial finding on the underlying factual merits. Subsequent reporting in June 2026 described proceedings concerning Lively’s request for legal fees and other relief.
How the appearance fits the timeline
- August 2024: It Ends With Us, adapted from Hoover’s novel, was released.
- December 2024: Lively filed a complaint concerning alleged conduct connected to the film; the dispute developed into litigation and public argument.
- February 16, 2025: Lively and Reynolds attended SNL50 together in New York.
- May 2026: The remaining claims settled, avoiding the scheduled trial.
- June 2026: Reporting described a later ruling concerning Lively’s request for legal fees and other relief.
The event and Reynolds’s joke drew attention because of the surrounding headlines, but neither the appearance nor the exchange proves or disproves either side’s claims.
