Bustle reported the outfit on October 14, describing a sheer maroon knit dress with thigh slits, matching fishnet tights, dark red Valentino Soul Rockstud ankle boots and a plum-colored shoulder bag. Bustle’s report identifies the garment as a knit dress and the fishnet as tights.
The combination gives the outfit its grungy impression: fishnet texture and a slit knit dress contrast with the polished, coordinated dark-red boots and plum bag. “Grungy” is a reading of the styling, not a description attributed to Lively or a quote from the report.
Was the dress from Gossip Girl?
No confirmed wardrobe connection is established. Bustle compared Lively’s dress visually to a similar Valentino dress worn by Blair Waldorf, her character on Gossip Girl. That resemblance does not establish that Lively’s own dress was Valentino. The report does not name its designer.

Lively wore a different sheer outfit at the Chanel Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner in New York on June 9, 2025: a white lace midi dress with floral detailing across the bust and a crocheted body, with jeweled sandals, a blue chore jacket, jewelry and a Chanel Scarab Minaudière.
