BLACKPINK did not disband or leave YG Entertainment for all purposes. In December 2023, the group renewed with YG for group activities, while the agency and members agreed not to make additional YG contracts for individual activities. YG’s later records document BLACKPINK touring and releasing music as a group.
What did BLACKPINK and YG announce?
On December 6, 2023, YG announced that all four members had renewed their contracts for BLACKPINK group activities. At the time, Yonhap reported that individual activity arrangements were still under discussion. Yonhap’s December 6, 2023 report said the original seven-year contracts had expired in August 2023; that reported timeline does not disclose the duration of the renewed group contract.
On December 29, YG said it had agreed with the members not to proceed with additional contracts for individual activities. The agency said it would support BLACKPINK’s group activities and cheer on the members’ individual work. In the English rendering of YG’s statement published by Soompi, the agency said: “BLACKPINK recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities.” This was YG’s statement, not a quote from a member.
Did BLACKPINK leave YG or disband?
No. The announced change was about individual activities under YG, not an end to BLACKPINK’s group relationship with the agency. The announcements did not say that the group had disbanded or that every member had severed all ties with YG.

“Split with YG” is therefore too broad without a qualifier. The accurate distinction is that the members did not proceed with additional YG contracts for individual activities, while BLACKPINK continued to work with YG as a group.
What happened after the contract announcements?
YG’s official records show subsequent group activity. Its tour page lists the DEADLINE world tour, which began in July 2025 and concluded in January 2026. In a January 15, 2026 report, YG described the tour as spanning 16 cities and 33 shows; those are the agency’s figures. YG’s report also announced a February 27 release for the DEADLINE mini album.

YG’s official discography lists JUMP as a digital single released July 11, 2025, and DEADLINE as BLACKPINK’s third mini album, released February 27, 2026. The tour and releases confirm that the group remained active after the 2023 announcement; they do not disclose the renewed contract’s length or financial terms.
