Brooke Shields says she colors her hair every four weeks, though gray roots are already part of the picture. In a PEOPLE interview published October 8, 2024, she also discussed new Commence haircare products and how she is approaching her daughters’ move toward life away from home.
Is Brooke Shields going gray?
Shields told PEOPLE that she colors her hair “every four weeks, and that’s pushing it. My hair would be all gray!” She said she is “not quite there yet” when asked whether she would go fully gray, adding that her hair grows out gray and that the texture is different.
Her comments describe her own relationship with coloring and gray hair, not a general rule about when someone should stop coloring. She also said she washes her hair “every four or five days.”

Shields also said she uses Commence’s Instant Shampoo when her hair is dry and always uses the brand’s leave-in conditioner. Those are her reported routines, not recommendations for every hair type.
What did Brooke Shields say about empty nesting?
Asked how empty nesting was going, Shields said, “I’m so busy, which is very helpful.” She recounted her daughter’s suggestions about what she should wear to parents’ weekend and described wanting to move into this stage of life rather than look backward: “I’m not trying to look backwards. I’m trying to go forward, but in a youthful way.”

What the interview reported about Commence’s first product
The PEOPLE interview also reported that Commence’s 2-in-1 Instant Shampoo sold out within its first month and had a 23,000-person waitlist. That figure is the article’s account of the product launch, not independently confirmed brand data.
The interview said the newly discussed products were plant-based and under $30 at the time of publication. That is a historical price statement from October 2024, not a current price or availability check.
