The visual references
Beyoncé appears in a red swimsuit recalling Anderson’s Baywatch lifeguard image, as well as a look referencing Anderson’s character in Barb Wire. Why does the “Bodyguard” video tell people to vote?
The video was released on U.S. Election Day, November 5, 2024, and includes a flag reading “VOTE!” Its direct message is a general appeal to vote. The closing card says “Happy Beylloween.” NME’s November 5, 2024 report records the election-day release and on-screen wording.

Contemporary coverage also situated the release amid Beyoncé’s support for Kamala Harris. That broader campaign context should not be confused with the video’s own message: the vote cue does not name a candidate. The reporting cited here does not establish that “Beywatch” changed turnout or voting behavior.
Where does “Bodyguard” fit on Cowboy Carter?
“Bodyguard” is one of the songs on Cowboy Carter, the album paired with the visual. Beyoncé’s official shop lists the track on the album’s two-disc vinyl edition; that product is a listening or collecting option, not a requirement for watching the video.
