Disney’s current official synopsis is for Avengers: Doomsday, not Secret Wars.
Are there verified Avengers: Secret Wars plot leaks?
No detailed Secret Wars plot leak is verified by the official announcements and reporting reviewed for this article. Disney and D23 have not disclosed a complete plot for the film. Online claims about specific story events should therefore be treated as unverified unless supported by a named, credible source or an official announcement.
One official synopsis is available, but it belongs to Avengers: Doomsday. Disney says heroes from three distinct universes will be on a collision course against an existential threat. That description is not confirmation of the plot of Secret Wars. Disney’s official Doomsday page currently lists the film for December 18, 2026, with Anthony Russo and Joe Russo directing and Stephen McFeely writing.
What does “Avengers 7” mean?
“Avengers 7” is reader shorthand. The official announcements reviewed name Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars; they do not establish Secret Wars as the seventh Avengers movie. The next officially named Avengers film in the current Disney listing is Doomsday.

What is officially confirmed about Secret Wars?
Disney announced on July 27, 2024 that Anthony and Joe Russo would direct both Doomsday and Secret Wars, with Stephen McFeely writing. That announcement gave release windows of May 2026 and May 2027, respectively; those are historical schedule details, not current release-date confirmation. Disney’s 2024 announcement also identified Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, or Doctor Doom.
D23 reported on March 26, 2025 that production had begun on Doomsday and listed its then-planned May 1, 2026 release, alongside a May 7, 2027 date for Secret Wars. Those dates reflect the schedule at that time. Disney’s current Doomsday page now lists December 18, 2026. D23’s announcement is useful for the cast and production-start news, but it does not supply a complete Secret Wars cast or detailed plot.

Keep the evidence levels separate:
- Official confirmation: Disney announced the Russo brothers as directors and McFeely as writer for both films; Disney identified Downey as Doctor Doom and currently lists the Doomsday date and synopsis.
- Attributed reporting: The Associated Press has reported on the fifth Avengers film’s development and the Russo brothers’ comments about script work.
- Unverified claims: Specific supposed Secret Wars plot details or a Kang appearance are not confirmed by the official sources cited here.
Is Kang in Avengers: Secret Wars?
No reviewed official source confirms Kang as a villain or participant in Secret Wars. Kang is part of the film’s production-history conversation, not a confirmed account of the current story.
The Associated Press reported that the fifth Avengers film was first conceived as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and was substantially retooled after Jonathan Majors, who played Kang, was dropped from the franchise following his conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The film became Avengers: Doomsday; Disney’s announcement identifies Downey’s character as Victor von Doom. This history does not establish that Kang will return in Secret Wars. The AP’s 2026 report also described the Russos as “soft prepping” Secret Wars while finishing work on Doomsday—a dated production snapshot, not confirmation of the film’s final schedule or content.

What the Russos have said about script changes
Joe Russo told the Associated Press in 2026, “We always view the script as a living organism.” The remark describes the directors’ approach to script development; it does not authenticate any purported leak or reveal a confirmed Secret Wars plot.

No. Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars comic is a useful source-text comparison, but it is not evidence that the unreleased film will adapt the same events. Penguin Random House lists Avengers: Secret Wars [Marvel Premier Collection] as a 320-page paperback published August 18, 2026, ISBN 9781302970291. The collection includes Secret Wars (2015) #1–9 and Free Comic Book Day 2015 (Secret Wars) #0. Its publisher description features incursions, a destroyed multiverse, Battleworld, and Doom; those comic elements should not be presented as confirmed movie plot points. Penguin Random House’s listing provides the edition details.
