What Drake-Lee said about starting over
In a 2019 interview with Essence, Drake-Lee spoke about the strain of beginning the divorce process while caring for two nursing babies. She said she had run the household during her relationship with Williams and described leaving her New York career when the family moved to California to support his acting career. She also said they had built businesses together.
She explained the pressure she felt to keep things functioning even as she was struggling: “I knew, as the one that was really holding it all together, that I didn’t have a lot of room to fall, even though I was falling.” That is Drake-Lee’s account of her experience; it should not be treated as a complete account of the marriage or the divorce.
How the separation changed her community and priorities
Drake-Lee said the separation changed how she saw the couple’s shared circle of friends. She called that realization “a blessing in disguise,” saying it helped clear a path toward living in greater alignment with what she wanted. Her remarks describe a personal reassessment, not a claim that every friendship ended or that she had completed that transition.

The interview also presented her as co-host of BBSARETRASH, also known as Babies Are Trash, a podcast she made with her friend and fellow mother Trian Long-Smith. Drake-Lee said its purpose was to encourage women to speak openly and find community. The profile documents the project in 2019; it does not confirm that the podcast remains active.
Divorce and custody timeline
Drake-Lee and Williams met in New York and married in September 2012, according to Us Weekly’s retrospective. Williams filed for divorce in April 2017. The former couple have two children, Sadie and Maceo. Us Weekly reports that the divorce was finalized in October 2020.

Later coverage concerns disputes over custody, not a reliable update on Drake-Lee’s everyday life. In September 2024, E! News reported that Williams had requested a change to the custody schedule and summarized allegations in his court declaration. Those are claims attributed to Williams, not established findings about Drake-Lee.
Us Weekly’s May 2025 retrospective describes further custody-related proceedings and allegations. Reports of allegations should not be mistaken for a judicial finding, and the available coverage does not establish what custody arrangement is currently in effect.
What is known about her life now
The clearest first-person account in these sources is from 2019. A Realtor.com page lists a professional profile for Aryn N. Drake Lee in Brooklyn, but it shows no active listings or sales and does not confirm her current employment. No reliable source cited here establishes her present-day work, relationships, living situation or private routine. It is therefore more accurate to describe the changes she discussed at the time than to claim that her life in 2026 is known.
