What is Season 2 about?
Charles Nieuwendyk (Ted Danson), the retiree who became a private investigator, goes undercover at Wheeler College. The case begins with a stolen laptop and a blackmail threat that puts the school’s leadership and a major donation at risk. Netflix describes the stakes as hundreds of millions of dollars, with faculty members among the possible suspects and Charles gaining confidence in his investigative work. Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 overview details the premise.
The college setting and blackmail case mark a shift from Season 1, in which Charles investigated missing jewelry at an assisted-living facility. Season 2 keeps the character at the center while placing him among a new group of potential suspects.

Who is in the Season 2 cast?
Ted Danson returns as Charles. Netflix also identifies Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, and Stephen McKinley Henderson among the returning performers. Season 2 newcomers named by Netflix are:

Will there be a Season 3?
Yes. Netflix’s September 25, 2026 update calls Season 3 the series’ third and final season and says production had started in San Francisco. Netflix has not provided a premiere date in that update. The current status and production news are in Netflix Tudum’s Season 3 update.

Netflix reported more than 45 million combined views for Seasons 1 and 2 through the end of 2025, and said the series spent five weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10. Those are figures for the two seasons together, not a standalone Season 2 total. Netflix’s September 2026 update does not give a separate Season 2 viewing figure.
