Alicia Keys disse em 2020 que tentava descobrir onde estava o clipe de “Put It in a Love Song” e cogitou que ela e Beyoncé pudessem divulgá-lo aos fãs. Isso não foi um anúncio de lançamento: não há confirmação, nas fontes consultadas, de uma estreia programada para 2026. Filmado no Rio de Janeiro em 2010, o vídeo teve um teaser em 2011, mas não foi lançado oficialmente.
O que Alicia Keys disse sobre lançar o clipe?
Em entrevista ao Stereogum publicada em 18 de setembro de 2020, Keys respondeu sobre a localização do vídeo: “Honestly now, I’m trying to figure out where it is.” Na mesma conversa, levantou a possibilidade de ela e Beyoncé compartilharem o material com os fãs: “Let’s just throw it out there for fun”. “Put It in a Love Song”, com participação de Beyoncé, está associada ao álbum The Element of Freedom, de Alicia Keys. As artistas gravaram cenas do vídeo no Rio de Janeiro em 2010. Em março de 2011, foi divulgado um teaser de 42 segundos, mas, naquela ocasião, ainda não havia data de estreia definida. As explicações públicas para o não lançamento
Keys já havia dito que o resultado não capturou a energia que ela e Beyoncé queriam para o projeto. Em outubro de 2025, Mathew Knowles, pai e então ex-empresário de Beyoncé, apresentou outra explicação ao podcast Reality with the King. Segundo a cobertura da CNN Brasil, ele afirmou que a Sony não pagou traficantes locais e que a equipe precisou ser retirada de helicóptero: “the Sony didn’t pay the drug dealers and they had to be helicoptered out of there.” Essa é a versão atribuída a Knowles, não uma causa comprovada de forma independente. A CNN Brasil também registrou que a associação de moradores negou que tenha ocorrido um incidente durante as filmagens. Em reportagem publicada pelo UOL, o Estadão informou que a Sony Music Brasil não comentou o relato.
