What the critics’ ranking does—and does not—tell you
The list is a snapshot of critics’ scores, not a definitive verdict on artistic quality and not a viewing sequence. A higher Tomatometer score means a larger share of counted reviews were positive; it does not mean every critic agreed or that audiences responded the same way.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Rotten Tomatoes’ Critics Consensus characterizes Aliens as shifting from the original’s slow-burn dread to tightly orchestrated action and thrills. Its consensus for Alien: Romulus says the film honors its predecessors while introducing new frights. These are the site’s descriptions of those films, not explanations for every placement in the full ranking.
The lineup spans markedly different creative approaches. The guide credits Ridley Scott with directing the original and later prequels, James Cameron with Aliens, David Fincher with Alien 3, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet with Alien Resurrection. It identifies Fede Alvarez as the director of Romulus and Noah Hawley as the creator of Alien: Earth, the franchise’s first television series.

Ranked order versus watch order
A score ranking should not be mistaken for release order or in-universe chronology. Rotten Tomatoes’ companion viewing guide presents both approaches and recommends release order for a first-time watch.
Release order
Start with Alien (1979), then Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992), and Alien Resurrection (1997). The release sequence then continues through the two Alien vs. Predator crossover films, Scott’s prequels, Romulus, and Alien: Earth. See Rotten Tomatoes’ guide to watching the Alien franchise in order.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

In-universe chronology
The companion guide puts the crossover films first, followed by the prequels and later stories. Its dated placements are Prometheus in 2089, Alien: Covenant in 2104, Alien: Earth in 2120, Alien in 2122, and Alien: Romulus in 2142. The story then continues with Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection. The guide’s chronology and release-order list answer different questions; neither is the Tomatometer ranking.
