A contemporaneous PEOPLE report republished by Yahoo says the couple’s legal ceremony took place Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London. The report identifies Brannan as Longman’s partner; Longman’s website now identifies Alex as his husband.

In the social-post wording attributed to him by PEOPLE/Yahoo, Longman captioned a photograph “Mr. and Mr. 🎉” and wrote, “This was just the legal bit.” He also said, “Just thought it would be romantic to come back from Ukraine and make it official,” referring to his assignment there.
Was there a larger wedding celebration?
Longman said a “Big fun wedding next year for all our family and friends :)” was planned. That statement described a future plan, not a confirmed event. The sources cited here do not establish that the larger celebration occurred, so details such as its date, location, or customs cannot be verified.

Who is James Longman?
ABC News’s biography identifies Longman as the network’s chief international correspondent. ABC announced in 2024 that he had joined the network as a foreign correspondent in 2017: ABC’s announcement.
In a first-person ABC News essay, Longman discussed coming out and referred to Alex as his boyfriend at that time. His personal website now refers to Alex as his husband; the older wording reflects the context in which that essay was written.
