Yes: Toei Animation announced Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol as officially in production on January 25, 2026. It is a new anime continuation after the series’ Universe Survival Arc, but Toei has not announced a release date or streaming service. “Season 2” is informal shorthand, not the project’s official title.
What did Toei announce?
Toei called Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol the franchise’s newest arc and confirmed that it is in production. The story follows the anime’s Universe Survival Arc, which aired from 2015 to 2018, and corresponds to the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc. Toei’s announcement confirms the project, but does not provide a premiere date.
What is the story of The Galactic Patrol?
Toei’s description has Goku and Vegeta working with the Galactic Patrol against “Planet-Eater” Moro. The announced arc adapts the Galactic Patrol Prisoner storyline from the Dragon Ball Super manga. Readers who want to get ahead can look for the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc; the announcement does not specify a particular volume or edition.
Why is the “eight years later” framing approximate?
The original anime’s Universe Survival Arc aired between 2015 and 2018, and Toei announced the continuation in 2026. That makes “eight years later” a broad calendar-year framing rather than an exact interval measured from a stated finale date. The announcement itself establishes production, not a release window.

Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus the second season?
No. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is a separate enhanced edition of the existing television anime, not the new Galactic Patrol continuation. Toei describes revisions including re-rendered footage, newly recorded dubbing, added score and sound effects, and a reconstructed story. Toei’s description of Beerus presents it as an enhanced edition.
The official Japanese Beerus site lists an October 11, 2026 premiere in Japan. Its schedule is distinct from The Galactic Patrol:
