For a short, gentle Easter watch, try It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown; for a longer Easter Bunny comedy, choose Hop. The eight picks below range from holiday specials centered on egg dyeing and Easter Bunny lore to broader rabbit and holiday-fantasy adventures. They are a family viewing guide, not a definitive ranking: not every title depicts Easter traditions directly.
Eight family movies and specials for Easter
1. It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (1974)
This 25-minute Peanuts special follows the children’s Easter preparations, including Peppermint Patty’s attempt at egg dyeing and Linus’s hopes for the Easter Beagle. Common Sense Media lists it as unrated and suggests age 3+. Its holiday details are secular—bonnets and egg dyeing, rather than Christian faith—and the story also touches on consumerism and disappointment. It’s a compact choice for a familiar, tradition-focused viewing slot. Common Sense Media’s review notes that the story considers the letdown that can follow holiday anticipation.
2. Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971)
This Rankin/Bass stop-motion special centers on Peter’s effort to become chief Easter Bunny and stop Irontail from ruining the holiday. At 50 minutes, it makes a distinctly Easter Bunny-centered choice without committing to a feature-length film. Common Sense Media lists it as unrated and suggests age 4+, noting very mild scares and peril. Read its age and content guidance. Universal describes the special as animated and family-oriented and lists DVD and Blu-ray + DVD formats; those formats do not establish current stock or price. Universal’s title page.
3. Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo (2004/2005 listings)
This gentle, preschool-friendly story gives Rabbit a holiday dilemma: he tries to replace Easter with spring cleaning. The Easter premise is clear, but the tone is softer than the slapstick in some of the other picks. Common Sense Media lists a 2005 release, G rating, 65-minute runtime, and age 4+ suggestion. Release years can vary by listing, so use the year shown by the specific edition or distributor when precision matters. Common Sense Media’s listing.

4. Hop (2011)
In this live-action and animation comedy, E.B., the Easter Bunny’s son, would rather pursue drumming than take over the family Easter candy business. It’s a feature-length, high-energy option for families who want Easter Bunny fantasy with a modern comic setup. Common Sense Media lists it as PG, 95 minutes, and suggests age 5+, while flagging peril and stereotypes for parents to consider. See the full content notes.
5. The Dog Who Saved Easter (2014)
This light holiday comedy brings a dog into Easter-related trouble. Common Sense Media lists it as PG, 86 minutes, and suggests age 6+. Its review describes silly fun and notes some potty humor, so parents may want to weigh that alongside a child’s tolerance for broad comedy. Read the age and content guidance.

Review its content notes.
7. Rabbit School: Guardians of the Golden Egg (2018)
This animated Easter adventure follows a young rabbit in a world of Easter Bunny training. It offers a less familiar, Easter-specific alternative for older children. Runtime, rating, and age guidance in this table are listed by Common Sense Media (accessed 2026). The age suggestions are editorial guidance, not a guarantee that every child will be comfortable with a title. If your family wants a short viewing window, the two specials at the top are the briefest; for an Easter-centered story, prioritize titles that explicitly feature Easter preparations or Easter Bunny lore. The broader fantasy and rabbit adventures offer a looser seasonal connection.
