Leo Sharf, a client of Reenie’s, hires Colter to find his missing assistant before his company’s launch. CBS’s synopsis says the case turns personal and becomes a deadly vendetta that threatens Reenie and Colter. That is the safest spoiler-light description of the episode’s central danger; the available episode listing does not establish how the case ends.
Why Francie’s disappearance raises questions
A May 2, 2025, TV Insider preview identifies the missing assistant as Francie. In the preview, Colter questions why she left by a fire escape and abandoned her phone and purse. Sharf says their relationship was professional, with only minor disagreements. He suspects someone may be trying to disrupt the launch because Francie knows proprietary information and is important to it.
The preview also describes an alert from a system Francie set up for priority emails, followed by encrypted messages and a plea to her boss. These details make the disappearance look more complicated than an ordinary workplace absence, but they do not establish the full explanation or resolution.

How Dory’s return connects to the Shaw family mystery
Dory Shaw returns with a box of research papers belonging to her and Colter’s father, Ashton. According to TVLine’s May 2, 2025, preview, the papers include Ashton’s work on zero point energy. Colter suspects the box could connect to the night their father died, but the preview says Dory finds no smoking gun. At this point in the story, the papers deepen the family mystery rather than solve it.
