The Umbrella siblings return from 1963 to a present shaped by Reginald Hargreeves’ new adoptions. Their arrival helps set off a universe-threatening paradox, and Reginald exploits the crisis to get the family to a machine that can reset reality. Allison kills him and activates it. The siblings emerge in a changed world without their powers, while Sloane is missing and Reginald appears to have won.
Why are the Umbrellas in a different timeline?
At the end of Season 2, the siblings return from 1963 to find that the Academy they knew has been replaced by the Sparrow Academy. In the past, Reginald met the Umbrellas and was unimpressed. He later adopted a different group of powered children instead of them. The Umbrellas are still the same family from their perspective; the Sparrows are the result of Reginald’s changed choices in this altered present.
The new timeline has a deeper problem: the Umbrella siblings’ mothers died before the children could be born. That contradiction is tied to the crisis that threatens to consume the world.
What caused the Kugelblitz?
Harlan Cooper, now an adult who goes by Lester Pocket, still has energy from the power Viktor gave him. When Harlan’s mother, Sissy, dies on October 1, 1989, his grief triggers a burst that kills the Umbrella siblings’ mothers. The siblings therefore exist in a timeline where they should never have been born—a grandfather paradox.

Why does Allison press the reset button?
Reginald’s machine drains the siblings to power the reset. Allison interrupts him and kills him, then presses the button herself. Viktor could stop her, but lets her act after Allison asks him to trust her.
Allison has lost Claire in the timeline changes and said goodbye to Ray in Dallas. After the reset, she returns to a home where both are waiting. Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Allison, described the exchange with Viktor as a leap of faith: Allison asks him to trust her in the same way she is taking a risk herself.

Where does everyone end up after the reset?
The surviving siblings and Ben emerge in Obsidian Memorial Park. Their injuries are healed, and Luther is alive with his normal body again. The reset has also left the family without their powers.
- Sloane: She is not with Luther or the others when they emerge.
- Allison: She is reunited with Claire and Ray at home.
- Reginald and Abigail: Reginald appears alive and powerful, beside Abigail, in a city dominated by buildings bearing his name.
- Ben: The post-credits scene shows him on what appears to be the same Korean train associated with his spontaneous birth.
Those are the key uncertainties the finale carries into Season 4: where Sloane is, what happened to the siblings’ powers, how Allison’s family fits into the reset world, and what Reginald and Abigail’s apparent control means.
