Mor Ilderton left The Voice before Season 26’s Knockouts. Gwen Stefani told mentor Sting that Ilderton “had to go home,” but neither the show nor Ilderton publicly gave a reason in the reporting available. His departure left Jan Dan and Sydney Sterlace to continue for Team Gwen.
When Mor Ilderton left The Voice
Ilderton was absent before his first Knockouts performance as a member of Team Gwen. During the November 18, 2024 episode, Stefani explained the change to mentor Sting: “We had Mor, who I stole, but he had to go home, so it’s just gonna be the two of them.” Parade reported the announcement and the effect on Stefani’s team.
That establishes that Ilderton left the competition before the Knockouts. It does not establish whether he quit, withdrew for a personal reason, or left for another cause; Stefani’s wording did not explain what happened.
How Ilderton reached Team Gwen
- In the Blind Auditions, Ilderton performed Dylan Gossett’s “Coal” and joined Michael Bublé’s team.
- In the Battles, he sang “Iris” with Kiara Vega. Bublé chose Vega, but Stefani used a steal to bring Ilderton onto Team Gwen. TVLine covered the Battle result and steal.
- He left before performing in the Knockouts, so his run ended after two performance rounds.
Why did Mor Ilderton leave?
No reason was publicly established in the contemporaneous coverage. The Los Angeles Times reported on November 20, 2024, that the show had not said why Ilderton left and that he had not immediately responded to a request for comment. A new single was announced around the same time, but timing alone does not show that his music plans caused his exit.

Parade suggested he might have left to pursue his own work, but that was speculation, not a confirmed explanation. A February 2026 Deseret News retrospective also said Ilderton had not directly addressed the departure.
Who continued for Team Gwen?
After Ilderton’s exit, Stefani had two contestants remaining: Jan Dan and Sydney Sterlace. Parade reported that both advanced to the Playoffs; Sterlace won, while Dan received Stefani’s save.

What happened to Ilderton afterward?
Deseret News reported in February 2026 that Ilderton later auditioned for American Idol. That later appearance is career context, not an explanation for his 2024 departure from The Voice. The same article said his Blind Audition performance of “Coal” had reached 1 million YouTube views at the time of publication; that is a dated, article-reported count, not a current view total.
