Four hometown visits, but no easy answers
The hometown dates were meant to help Joan understand whether her growing connections could become love. Meeting each man’s family made the stakes more personal, but it did not settle her doubts. She was weighing the men’s willingness to express commitment against her own struggle to move forward after the death of her husband, John.
Guy Gansert: Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Guy introduced Joan to his children, siblings and a large family who welcomed her. He said he was ready to propose and described strong feelings for her. Joan, meanwhile, spoke about feeling guilty as she began to move forward after John’s death. The visit offered a warm family reception and a clear expression of intent from Guy, but did not erase Joan’s grief.
Pascal Ibgui: Chicago, Illinois
Pascal took Joan to his salon and introduced her to his children and grandson. His family could picture the two of them together, but Joan remained unsure about Pascal’s emotional openness and whether he would accept a rose. She said her feelings had grown, yet his guardedness still frightened her.

Jordan Heller: Chicago, Illinois
Jordan introduced Joan to his daughters and brothers, who welcomed her. But he told his daughter he could not say “I love you” or propose on the show’s short timeline. That left Joan confused about whether to take a leap of faith with him; she said she wanted to put her guard up.
Chock Chapple: Wichita, Kansas
Chock brought Joan to meet his children, father, brother, friends and relatives of his late fiancée. The group honored Chock’s late mother by planting an oak tree. Chock told Joan he was falling in love with her, and she felt the connection was mutual. Her guilt about moving on remained, even amid that reassurance.

Why Joan felt confused
The contrast was not simply between families who welcomed Joan and those who did not: all four visits included family introductions, and the families generally responded warmly. The sharper difference was how directly the men expressed commitment. Guy said he was ready to propose, and Chock said he was falling in love. Pascal’s emotional reserve worried Joan, while Jordan said he could not reach the show’s expected declarations on its timeline.
That contrast reflects what the episode showed and what Joan said—not an objective measure of anyone’s capacity for a relationship. The dates gave her different signals, but not a simple answer about whom she could trust with a future.

The rose ceremony: Jordan goes home
Before choosing, Joan said Guy and Chock seemed all-in, while Jordan and Pascal seemed noncommittal. She ultimately gave roses to Chock, Guy and Pascal, sending Jordan home. Pascal’s place in the final three showed that her concerns about his guardedness had not ended their relationship, even as Jordan’s hesitation proved decisive.
