CBS scheduled the three-hour Survivor 49 finale for 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and President Donald Trump’s address for 9 p.m. ET. The network’s announced plan was to interrupt the episode for live coverage, then resume it afterward from where it stopped. CBS said the finale would air in its entirety for Eastern and Central Time Zone viewers.
What CBS said would happen
The finale was not announced as canceled or removed from the schedule. CBS planned to begin the episode at its scheduled time, cut away for the president’s live address, and return to the episode after the address.

In a statement quoted by TV Insider, CBS said the finale would “resume where it left off immediately following the president’s address for Eastern and Central Time Zone viewers on the CBS Television Network and air in its entirety.” That was CBS’s pre-broadcast plan; the available reports do not independently confirm the completed on-air sequence.

What viewers outside the Eastern and Central time zones should know
CBS’s quoted promise to resume the episode and air it in its entirety specifically named Eastern and Central Time Zone viewers. It does not establish what every local affiliate did, or guarantee the same resumption timing in other time zones. Check a local station’s schedule for any time-zone-specific details.

CBS’s current Survivor page lists seasons 49 and 51, but that alone does not confirm that the season 49 finale is currently available to stream. CBS’s October 1, 2026 materials describe Paramount+ access for season 51: Premium subscribers can watch episodes live and on demand, while Essential subscribers receive episodes on demand the day after broadcast. Those terms are for season 51 and should not be assumed to apply to season 49.

For season 49, check the finale’s episode listing in the service you use before relying on it as a catch-up option. Paramount’s July 2026 fall schedule concerns season 51 and its 2026 broadcasts, not the 2025 season 49 finale.
