Spoilers for seasons 2 and 3. Jackie tells Cole she loves him, but Alex overhears—and before either brother can respond, news of an emergency involving their father, George, cuts the scene short. Season 2 ends without resolving the love triangle or revealing George’s condition. Creator Melanie Halsall says Jackie’s love for Cole does not cancel her feelings for Alex; season 3 later answers the immediate cliffhangers.
How does My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 end?
The finale gives each of the three teenagers a major personal milestone before abruptly shifting into crisis. Jackie wins the Young Sparkler Award for her impact on Silver Falls. Cole steps into the role of football coach and shows he can lead the team, while Alex makes the bronc-riding team and wins the sponsorship he had been pursuing.
The emotional climax arrives when Cole tells Jackie he loves her. Jackie admits she loves him too. As Cole is about to kiss her, Alex is revealed to have heard the confession. The expected confrontation between the brothers never happens: Will arrives on an ATV, ambulances appear, and the family learns something has happened to George. The episode cuts off without explaining the emergency or saying whether George will survive. Netflix’s season 2 finale explainer confirms that this is an intentional cliffhanger, not an answer hidden in the finale.
What does creator Melanie Halsall say Jackie’s confession means?
Halsall’s explanation is that Jackie is not simply choosing Cole and erasing Alex. “The way we see it is she’s in love with Cole, but she still loves Alex,” the series creator told Netflix Tudum on September 1, 2025. Jackie’s admission to Cole expresses feelings she has been resisting, but it does not mean her history with Alex has vanished.

Her grief matters to that reading. After losing her family, Jackie is emotionally wounded and unsure what she wants romantically. Her conflicting feelings are presented as uncertainty and grief, not proof that she deliberately deceived either brother.
Halsall also said she had been building toward the three-way scene: “I wanted a big finale, and I was always working towards that scene between Jackie, Cole, and Alex.” That is the creator’s account of the storytelling intent; it does not settle what Alex will do after overhearing them. In the same Tudum feature, Ashby Gentry’s view is that both boys deserve an explanation while Jackie is entitled to her feelings. Noah LaLonde describes Cole’s confession as the payoff to emotions he had held back. Those are cast perspectives rather than additional plot resolutions.

Will Jackie pick Alex or Cole?
At the end of season 2, Jackie has not made a clean, final choice. She tells Cole she loves him, but Halsall’s interpretation explicitly allows for Jackie to still love Alex. Alex has just heard the confession, and the episode ends before Jackie or either brother can talk through what it means.
Is George dead at the end of season 2?
Season 2 does not say. The ambulance arrival and news that something has happened to George establish an emergency, but the finale cuts to black before revealing his condition. That uncertainty is part of the cliffhanger—not evidence that he has died.

Are Alex and Cole going to fight harder over Jackie?
The season 2 ending leaves that question unanswered. Alex has overheard Jackie and Cole, but no confrontation or decision follows before the emergency interrupts them. The finale does not establish whether the brothers will fight, reach an understanding, or respond in another way.
Season 3 spoilers: what happens after the cliffhanger?
The following developments are from season 3, not answers contained in the season 2 finale. Netflix Tudum reported that all eight season 3 episodes began streaming on Netflix on August 6, 2026. The new season opens after George is rushed to hospital, and he survives the health scare, as Netflix’s season 3 coverage explains.

Season 3 also answers the immediate question about Jackie and Cole: they decide to try a relationship and embrace that possibility in the first episode. Halsall told Tudum the season 2 ending was designed to lead into that choice. It answers what Jackie and Cole do next, but it should not be mistaken for a resolution already shown in season 2. Netflix Tudum says the series has been renewed for season 4, is in production, and is planned to return in 2027. That is the currently announced schedule, which may change. Season 3 is available to stream on Netflix.

The television series is based on Ali Novak’s novel My Life with the Walter Boys, as identified by Netflix Tudum. The novel is source material, not a guide to television-only twists or the events of later episodes.
Season 2 in context
Season 2 premiered August 28, 2025, and has 10 episodes, according to Teen Vogue’s finale coverage. The ending’s two unresolved threads are distinct: the emotional question of what Jackie’s confession means to Alex and Cole, and the immediate family emergency involving George. Season 3 supplies later answers, but neither one is resolved before season 2 cuts to black.
