Henry Cavill said Highlander training was about to begin in earnest, not that he had finished it. In an interview reported in January 2024, he called the process long, said he was excited to start and declined to share more. That is a historical update—not confirmation of a new 2026 milestone.
What Henry Cavill said about Highlander training
CinemaBlend attributes this statement to Cavill in an interview with Collider: “The training is about to begin in earnest. It’ll be a very long training process, and I’m very excited to get into it. There’s only so much I can tell you at the moment. I want to keep everything under wraps for as long as possible.” CinemaBlend and GamesRadar+ both reported the remarks in January 2024.
The wording is specific: training was about to start, and Cavill expected it to take a long time. He did not say in this quote that the training had begun, describe a routine, or announce a completed milestone.
Why this is not a new 2026 update
The interview coverage dates to January 2024. The available reports do not establish whether Cavill has since shared another training update, whether filming is underway, or when the reboot will be released. The quote should therefore be read as a snapshot of what he said then, rather than evidence of the project’s current status.

What the reports say about the Highlander project
The coverage identifies the project as a reboot of the 1986 Highlander film and names Chad Stahelski as its director. GamesRadar+ also reported a separate Cavill comment to ComicBook.com: “It’s going to be a serious ride,” alongside the caveat that work remained to be done. Yahoo Entertainment’s report republished from Total Film provides the reboot and original-film context.
Those details help identify the project, but do not fill in the unanswered questions about its present production status or Cavill’s training since the 2024 interview.
