Who was the Secret Traitor in The Traitors UK series 4?

Which players had already been ruled out?
Before Fiona’s reveal, the names identified as ruled out were James, Maz and Reece. That list appeared in a TechRadar article last updated 4 January 2026, so it reflects speculation at that point in the series—not the final answer or a complete record of every contestant’s status. TechRadar’s 4 January article gives the early-season list.
Why James, Maz and Reece were ruled out
The clue was their appearance on a murder shortlist. In the twist’s rules, the known Traitors choose a murder victim from the Secret Traitor’s shortlist. The known Traitors could not be placed on that list, and the Secret Traitor could not shortlist themself; therefore, a shortlist appearance excluded a player from being the Secret Traitor under that reasoning.

How the Secret Traitor twist worked
Claudia Winkleman selected one Secret Traitor in addition to the known Traitors. The Secret Traitor worked alone, knew who the contestants really were, and prepared the murder shortlist; the known Traitors then had to choose a target from it. Claudia described the role as controlling the known Traitors without joining them. The BBC Media Centre explains the format.
Fiona later said she had put Netty, Ben and Maz on her shortlist because she thought they were “the three most faithful.” That explanation helps clarify the twist: the shortlist was created by the Secret Traitor, but its names were presented to the known Traitors as the available murder choices.
