The imagined 1990s Avengers cast
The concept recasts familiar Marvel characters with actors associated with the period. Alongside Cruise as Iron Man, the lineup described by BGR includes:
- Brad Pitt as Captain America
- Denzel Washington as Black Panther
- Angelina Jolie as Black Widow
- Ron Perlman as Thanos
- Morgan Freeman as Nick Fury
The appeal is the alternate-history premise: how might an Avengers ensemble have looked if it had been imagined with a 1990s cast? The pairings are speculative fan casting, not evidence of an actual movie plan or production.
What the video looks like—and where it shows its limits
BGR’s Chris Smith noted visual inconsistencies in the AI-generated sequences, including difficulty rendering wrinkles and eyes, apparent mismatches between some actors’ ages and their imagined roles, and Jim Carrey’s Loki appearing with three-fingered hands. The imperfections are part of what distinguishes this clip from a finished film: it presents an AI-assisted visual fantasy rather than a polished, official adaptation.
Related decade-based fan casts
Stryder HD also made hypothetical Avengers casts for other decades. The 1980s concept puts Burt Reynolds in the Iron Man role and Michael J. Fox as Spider-Man. In the 2000s version, Cruise again appears as Iron Man.
