They are not the same service, but their roles can overlap: you may be able to book an AMC showing through Fandango, and AMC announced a way for A-List members to apply a reservation during Fandango checkout. The better place to book depends on the theater and showtime, your membership benefits, the final checkout total, and the applicable refund terms.

What AMC Stubs offers
AMC’s membership page currently lists four tiers: Insider, Premiere GO!, Premiere, and A-List. The exact value depends on how often you go to AMC and which benefits you can use.
Insider, Premiere GO!, and Premiere
AMC’s current page lists $17.99 plus tax per year for Premiere. Its points comparison lists 20 points per dollar for Insider, 40 for Premiere GO!, and 100 for Premiere and A-List. Eligible members receive $5 in rewards for every 5,000 points. The page’s chart shows an online ticket-fee waiver for purchases of four or more tickets for Insider, and every time for the other three tiers. These benefits are subject to the chart’s footnotes and transaction conditions; discounts exclude convenience fees, taxes, and applicable premium-format or event surcharges.

- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
- Perfect for movie lovers ; To make a purchase, present your gift card at any box office or concession register.
A-List
AMC advertises A-List for a monthly fee; the membership page reviewed in 2026 does not specify the dollar amount in the portion available. The page lists up to four movies every week, free online reservations, and no upcharge for premium formats. Check the current terms for the fee and eligibility before joining.
What Fandango FanRewards offers
Fandango says qualifying ticket purchases earn 125 FanRewards points per ticket. At 500 points, a member receives a $5 reward, which can be used toward a Fandango movie ticket or a streaming rental or purchase. Fandango also says members can add a theater loyalty number to earn theater loyalty points alongside FanRewards points.

Not every purchase or redemption necessarily qualifies: Fandango’s program terms make eligibility dependent on details such as payment method, showtime, promotional use, and redemption deadlines. Review the current FanRewards terms for the transaction you plan to make.
Can you use AMC Stubs on Fandango?
AMC announced in 2018 that A-List members could enter their membership number during Fandango checkout to reserve an eligible movie. That announcement establishes a documented integration at the time, not a guarantee that every current listing or checkout flow works the same way. Check for the membership-number option and confirm the reservation terms before paying.

- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
Fandango’s FanRewards page separately says customers can add a theater loyalty number to earn theater-program points as well as FanRewards points. Whether a particular AMC ticket earns both types of rewards depends on current program rules and the purchase details.
Compare the full ticket cost, not just the listed price
Neither service is universally cheaper. AMC says its website and app purchases carry a convenience fee, and that qualifying Stubs account information can waive fees at specified third-party ticket sites under applicable conditions. Fandango says ticket and concession purchases include a non-refundable convenience fee. The fee outcome can depend on your tier, the number of tickets, and the transaction.

- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
For a fair comparison, check the final total for the same theater, showtime, seat, format, and ticket quantity. Include any premium-format or event surcharge and apply eligible membership details before comparing. AMC’s ticketing FAQ, its membership chart, and Fandango’s purchase policy describe their respective fee conditions.

Fandango limits refunds and exchanges to eligible cases and deadlines. Its policy says refunds return ticket value and eligible concession value minus applicable convenience fees; concession refunds also depend on theater rules. Exchange credits and deadlines have restrictions, so read the current policy before completing an order.

For an AMC purchase, check the theater and transaction terms that apply to your ticket. In either case, do not assume a convenience fee will be returned if you cancel.
How to choose where to book
- Start with the showing: confirm the theater, date, format, seat availability, and exact showtime on each service you are considering.
- Check your memberships: weigh the AMC Stubs tier benefits you can use against FanRewards points on a qualifying Fandango purchase.
- Compare checkout totals: include fees, taxes, and any format or event surcharges after entering eligible membership information.
- Review the cancellation terms: confirm the applicable deadline, refund or exchange eligibility, and fee treatment for that order.
If you are going to AMC and already have A-List or another Stubs tier, those benefits may affect the best booking route. If you do not, Fandango may still be convenient or useful for its rewards, but the final price and terms—not the brand name alone—decide the better option for that showing.
