Mr. T says Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool left out important parts of his life and values, including his faith, family, military service, charity and community work. The criticism was reported after the Netflix documentary’s release; a director’s recollection of an earlier, positive screening offers context, but does not explain the difference.
What is Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool about?
Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool is a Netflix documentary about Laurence Tureaud, known professionally as Mr. T, and part of the streamer’s Untold documentary series. Pre-release coverage reported a September 8, 2026 premiere date; an October 5 report described the film as already released. Indulge Express RadarOnline
Why is Mr. T criticizing the documentary?
As quoted by Indulge Express in an interview it attributed to The Guardian, Mr. T said the film did not cover enough of his life and called it “garbage.” He complained that it built him up and then tried to “punk me out.” These are his judgments of the finished documentary, not an independent assessment of its contents. The parts of his life he says were underrepresented
Reports say Mr. T objected to the treatment of his faith, family values, military service, charitable work and community activities. In the October 5 account, RadarOnline quoted him asking, “Why don’t you show Mr. T working with the Make-A-Wish kids, why don’t you show Mr. T being in the army?” RadarOnline

What did the director say about an earlier screening?
A syndicated column excerpt carried by Gan Jing World relayed director Scott Weintrob’s recollection that Mr. T attended an initial screening with some relatives and friends, said he loved the film and hugged people. That recollection is reported context, not proof for or against Mr. T’s later criticism. The account does not establish which version he saw or what may have prompted a change in his reaction.
