Justin Long appeared in a Qualcomm promotional skit for Snapdragon-powered Windows PCs at Computex on June 3, 2024. The ad plays on his old role as the Mac in Apple’s “Get a Mac” campaign—but it does not show that Long personally switched computers. It promotes Windows on Arm PCs powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips.
What happens in the Qualcomm skit?
The scene begins with a Mac user interrupted by notifications about app compatibility, low storage, and battery life. The character then looks for a Windows on Arm alternative, and the ad closes with the line “Things change.” MacRumors reported that Qualcomm unveiled the skit during its Computex keynote on June 3, 2024. MacRumors’ report describes the campaign’s setup and Long’s appearance.
The “switching sides” joke depends on audience recognition: Long portrayed the Mac in Apple’s “Get a Mac” advertisements. Here, he performs in a Qualcomm promotion that turns that familiar persona around.
Did Justin Long actually switch from Mac to PC?
The available reporting establishes that Long acted in the commercial; it does not establish that he abandoned a Mac, bought a Snapdragon PC, or changed his personal computer habits. The switch is the ad’s fictional premise, not a verified account of Long’s own choice.

Which PCs was the ad promoting?
The campaign pointed to Windows on Arm computers using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors, particularly Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus systems in Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC category. Qualcomm’s June 3, 2024 announcement said more than 20 devices had been announced with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Samsung. It expected major-retailer availability to begin June 18, 2024; that was a launch-era forecast, not confirmation of current stock. Qualcomm’s Computex announcement gives the launch details.
Qualcomm’s lineup has included distinct products such as the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge, Microsoft Surface Laptop, and ASUS Vivobook S 15. Those names refer to different computers, not interchangeable versions of one standard “Snapdragon PC.” Configurations, features, and present-day availability should be checked for the specific model and retailer. Qualcomm’s PC lineup page lists models and links for selected devices.

Are the ad’s Mac complaints unique to macOS?
No. The skit uses compatibility prompts, storage warnings, and battery concerns to set up its punchline; those scenes are advertising, not a controlled comparison of Macs and Windows PCs. Windows Central’s analysis also points out that notifications are not exclusive to macOS and that Windows on Arm software may use emulation when an application does not run natively. Windows Central’s commentary discusses those limits.
So the commercial can make the idea of a switch memorable, but it cannot establish that the problems shown are unique to Macs or that a Snapdragon PC would avoid every one of them. App support depends on the particular software and device; a buyer should check compatibility for the applications they rely on.

How should Qualcomm’s performance and battery claims be read?
Qualcomm promoted the Snapdragon X platforms with performance, on-device AI, and battery-life claims. In its Computex announcement, Qualcomm said the Snapdragon X Elite could deliver “up to 51% faster CPU performance at ISO power” and match a competitor’s peak PC CPU performance while using “65% less power.” These are Qualcomm’s own benchmark claims, not universal results for every laptop, workload, or processor generation. The announcement is Qualcomm’s source for those comparisons.
Qualcomm’s Copilot+ explainer describes the context for some comparisons. For example, its May 2024 Cinebench 2024 multi-core comparison used a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite and 10-core Snapdragon X Plus against a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M3, 8-core CPU, and 10-core GPU. Qualcomm says results vary significantly by device configuration and usage. A benchmark under those specified conditions does not predict how every model will perform in a reader’s everyday work. Qualcomm’s Copilot+ PC explainer sets out its test qualifications.

Battery life likewise needs a test method and a particular configuration to be meaningful. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said at the event that Snapdragon X Elite Copilot+ PCs “can deliver multi-day battery life.” That is a company statement, not a guarantee that every model or user will experience multiple days between charges. The skit itself supplies no test data for its battery complaint.
What did “Copilot+ PC” mean at launch?
In its 2024 explainer, Qualcomm described Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC requirements as at least a 40 TOPS NPU, 16 GB of memory, and 256 GB of storage. Qualcomm also said its 2024 devices featured a 45 TOPS NPU. These are source-dated descriptions of the launch-era category; check Microsoft’s current eligibility criteria before relying on them for a newer purchase. Qualcomm’s explainer provides the figures and its qualifications.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat the commercial does—and does not—show
The commercial documents a campaign conceit: a former Apple advertising character appears in a Qualcomm promotion for a new class of Windows PCs. It is not evidence of Long’s personal purchasing decision, a head-to-head product test, or proof that Snapdragon PCs resolve every compatibility, storage, or battery issue raised in the scene.
