Which jeans were being auctioned?
The lot was a pair of blue Calvin Klein jeans Shields wore in a 1980 advertisement. The report described them as mid-rise with fitted legs. Shields was 15 when she modeled for the ad, a detail that is inseparable from the campaign’s lasting notoriety.

Studio Auctions included the jeans in its announced sale, “From Bombshells to Blasters: An Auction You Can’t Refuse.” The advertisement drew controversy because Shields was underage. The jeans’ historical interest stems from their direct connection to that campaign, rather than from being a current retail product.
What was the estimate, and what did it mean?
Us Weekly reported on August 5, 2024, that Studio Auctions estimated the jeans at over $50,000. This was the auction house’s reported estimate; it does not show what a buyer ultimately paid, or whether a sale took place.

Studio Auctions described the jeans as being in “very good condition,” according to the report. Shields said, “I hope that somebody enjoys these just as much as I have and finds them as meaningful as I do. I can’t wait for someone to show these off!”
When was the auction scheduled?
The 2024 report announced sale dates of September 20–22 and October 25–27 in Burbank, California, with pre-bidding scheduled to begin August 20. Those dates are the announced schedule, not evidence that the lot sold during either event.
