Jack Brennan is the General Hospital character reported found dead in the Metro Court pool in the September 1, 2026 episode. Actor Chris McKenna had finished filming in June. The report says Ava Jerome drugged Brennan before Charlotte Cassadine and Danny Morgan found him, but it does not identify who killed him.

Did Jack Brennan die on General Hospital?

Yes. TV Insider reported that Brennan, played by Chris McKenna, was found dead in the Metro Court pool in the September 1, 2026 episode. McKenna said he had filmed his last episode in June, before the death aired. [TV Insider]

The report describes Ava Jerome drugging Jack before Charlotte Cassadine and Danny Morgan found him. McKenna said filming the pool scene involved floating in the water for two days. Executive producer Frank Valentini said, “The cast, crew, and I loved working with Chris, and we wish him all the best.”

Who killed Brennan?

The report does not name Brennan’s killer. Ava drugging him is part of the reported sequence, but it is not confirmation that she killed him. McKenna said, “I hope this generates months of riveting television around ‘Who killed Brennan?’” That was his hope for the story, not confirmation of what comes next.

Is Jack Brennan really dead?

He was reported found dead on-screen in the September 1 episode. That establishes the episode’s apparent outcome; the cited reporting does not establish whether later story developments could reverse it. “Favorite” in the headline is subjective: the available reports provide no audience survey or other evidence showing that Brennan was universally or statistically a fan favorite.

How Brennan’s death differs from other recent exits

Several other General Hospital departures and apparent deaths around the same period had different outcomes. Cassius Faison was initially left looking fatally wounded, but later reporting said he survived.
