Professional boxer Georgia O’Connor died aged 25 on 22 May 2025, her promoter Boxxer announced. She had publicly disclosed a cancer diagnosis. O’Connor married Adriano Cardinali on 9 May, 13 days before her death; her wedding post described it as “the day I married the love of my life.”
What is known about O’Connor’s death
O’Connor had cancer, but the sources reporting her death did not identify the cancer type. The International Boxing Association (IBA) dates her diagnosis to October 2024; BBC Sport reported that she announced earlier in 2025 that she had cancer. The exact date of her public announcement is not established in those reports.
BBC Sport also reported that O’Connor had previously battled ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. The available reporting does not establish that either condition caused her cancer or death. Claims O’Connor made about her medical care should be understood as her allegations, not independently established findings; the cited coverage does not establish an investigation outcome.
When did Georgia O’Connor marry?
The IBA reported that O’Connor married Adriano Cardinali on 9 May 2025. Her death was announced on 22 May, 13 days later. Some contemporary headlines rounded that interval to “two weeks.”

She was undefeated in three professional bouts, with wins over Ester Konecna, Erica Juana Gabriela Álvarez and Joyce Van, according to the World Boxing Council (WBC).
