The dates below follow a dated release chronology of early releases. They are commercial release dates, not dates of first online circulation, music-video premieres, or chart entries. The chronology is useful for ordering the releases, though the meaning of “single” can vary when songs also appear on an EP.

The day-level release sequence is reported by Chartwatch. The label’s official biography credits Finneas O’Connell with writing and producing “Ocean Eyes” and describes it as Eilish’s debut single.
Why “Ocean Eyes” is sometimes called her first single
Interscope says Eilish first gained public attention in 2015 with “Ocean Eyes,” which her brother Finneas wrote and produced. That describes its early public attention and online circulation; it does not mean the commercial single release occurred in 2015. In the commercial-release chronology above, “Six Feet Under” is dated one day earlier than “Ocean Eyes.”
#1 Best Overall
- Billie Eilish's third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released via Darkroom/Interscope Records is her most daring body of work to date, a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs - ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end - does exactly as the album title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way
So both descriptions can make sense: “Ocean Eyes” is the label-described debut single and the song that first brought her public attention, while “Six Feet Under” comes first in this dated commercial-release sequence. The label biography is available at Interscope Records.
How the 2017 EP fits the chronology
Eilish’s debut EP, dont smile at me, was released on August 11, 2017 through Darkroom/Interscope. Its track list includes “COPYCAT,” “Idontwannabeyouanymore,” and “My Boy,” all already listed as releases above. A song’s appearance on an EP and its promotion or classification as a single are related but distinct; this list follows the dated release chronology’s early single sequence rather than treating every EP track as a newly issued single on the EP date.

A track may enter a chart well after its release.
